Delhi University's centenary year celebrated with the 100-days skill festival
The festival included 12 training workshops in microbiology, genomics, Python for biology, NGS and genomic data science, IPR and more.

NEW DELHI: Centre for Innovation in Infectious Diseases, Research, Education and Training (CIIDRET) and Delhi School of Skill Enhancement and Entrepreneurship Development (IoE-DSSEED) of Delhi University (DU) celebrated DU's centenary year with the “100 days skill festival” which ended on May 9. The ceremony was held at the conference centre of DU.
The ceremony began on December 17, 2022 at DU's South Campus. It included a 100-day skill festival with 12 training workshops in subjects like basic techniques in microbiology, techniques in genomics, python for biology and its practical approach, NGS and genomic data science and analysis and protection of new knowledge as intellectual property through patents, along with other customised courses and theoretical workshops and faculty development online programmes on advanced technologies employed in biotech research, process and product development.

As per the official statement Amita Gupta, director of CIIDRET initiated the ceremony and said: “Skilling is not only a path for employability; Skilling is the gateway to technology creation and self-reliance. Skilling hubs fostering innovation with upskilling must be established and promoted.” while VK Chaudhary, director of DSSEED, said: “100 days Skill Festival is an example that needs to be expanded to other subject areas so that skilling becomes an inherent and inseparable part of education curriculum at all levels.”
Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer Atul Kumar Tiwari who is secretary of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship attended the ceremony as chief guest while dean of colleges, Balram Pani was guest of honour. Further, SOL director, Payal Mago was the distinguished guest.
Tiwari said: “Skilling, reskilling, and upskilling initiatives are critical for the development of India's youth and the overall growth of the country. The exposure to tools and techniques gained through these courses will not only increase employability but also inspire innovation and entrepreneurship."
