DoE withdraws transfer order of Delhi school teachers; Atishi congratulates government schools

Directorate of Education has cancelled transfer order of 5,000 government school teachers and formed committee on the transfer issue.
NEW DELHI : The Directorate of Education, Delhi has withdrawn the transfer order of 5,000 school teachers who have served more than 10 years in the same school. The school education department took the decision after receiving representations. Sharing the news on social media, Delhi education minister Atishi congratulated the teachers.
The DoE informed that the competent authority has decided to form an ‘appropriate’ committee comprising representatives of all stakeholders and experts which will take a ‘holistic, sympathetic, and fair view’ of the matter.
“Therefore, till further orders, the transfer orders of teachers issued on 02.07.2024 are kept in abeyance. Postings of all such teachers are restored as on 01.07.2024,” the order from DoE read.
Commenting on the order, Atishi posted, “Congratulations to the teachers of Delhi's government schools! On July 2, the transfer orders of more than 5000 teachers have been withdrawn. To stop the education revolution in Delhi, BJP got thousands of teachers transferred through LG sahab. But due to the struggle of the people of Delhi, this conspiracy failed. The Kejriwal government is committed to providing good education to the children of Delhi, no matter how much we have to fight for it.”
Transfer of school teachers
On July 4, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader ordered cancellation of the transfer order and demanded action against officers of DoE who defied her previous directive. Earlier, she issued a show-cause notice to the chief secretary and the Directorate of Education for ignoring her instructions to withdraw the transfer order. The minister also requested the secretary to initiate vigilance inquiry against corruption and malpractice, if any, in the transfer issue.
Atishi had argued that the mass transfer of teachers will disrupt the academic system of schools and had demanded an action taken report within two days.
The DoE circular issued on June 11 directed teachers who have served for more than 10 years in the same school to compulsorily apply for transfer, failing which they will be transferred to any school by the directorate.
