FMGE Exam : Three foreign medical graduates were arrested by Rajasthan's Special Operations Group (SOG) on allegations of paying Rs 74 lakh to fraudulently obtain Foreign Medical Graduate (FMG) certificates and secure internships at government medical colleges and acquire temporary registration with the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC).

According to several media reports, the accused have been identified as Deepak Yadav (28) of Chomu, Raju Gurjar (28) of Deeg district, and Naresh Gurjar (30) of Kathumar in Alwar district of Rajasthan. All three had completed their MBBS degrees in Kazakhstan.

Investigators revealed that the three individuals obtained fraudulent FMG certificates through a large-scale forged certification racket, which they subsequently used to secure internships at government medical colleges and eventually obtain registration with the RMC.

Failed FMG after several attempts: SOG Rajasthan

As per the SOG’s investigations, Yadav allegedly paid Rs 24 lakh for a forged FMG certificate to obtain an internship at Government Medical College in Dausa. Likewise, Raju Gurjar returned to India in 2021 from Kazakhstan after completing his MBBS degree. He also failed to clear the FMG screening exam despite multiple attempts.

Raju is accused of paying Rs 27 lakh for a fake FMG certificate, which he used to secure an internship at the Government Medical College in Hanumangarh. Allegedly, Naresh also paid Rs 23 lakh to obtain a fraudulent FMG certificate and completed his internship at the Government Medical College in Alwar.

As per the investigators, he subsequently played an active role in obtaining forged certificates for several other candidates through the same network.

Over 100 doctors with fake FMG certificates

So far, investigations have identified over 100 doctors who allegedly procured forged FMG certificates to secure internships and RMC registration, IG (SOG) Ajay Pal Lamba said. However, Investigators believe the racket was operated with the involvement of officials and employees within the RMC itself.

The case has already resulted in the arrest of former RMC registrar Rajesh Sharma, UDC Akhilesh Mathur, LDC Farhan Hasan, alleged network mastermind Bhanaram Mali, and 17 foreign medical graduates. As per the SOG, Bhanaram reportedly charged between Rs 20 lakh and Rs 30 lakh per candidate to arrange fraudulent FMG certificates and facilitate their registration with the RMC.
