GMAT 2024 Focus edition starts today for admission to 2,400 B-schools; exam pattern

NEW DELHI: The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Focus edition test has started for admission to 7,700 programs of more than 2,400 B-schools globally.

Students will have to attempt 64 questions in three sections – quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning and data insights. The quantitative reasoning will have 21 questions while verbal reasoning and data insights sections will have 23 and 20 questions, respectively. Candidates will be given 45 minutes to attempt each section.

Candidates will be able to change three answers per section and bookmark questions for review. After the exam, candidates will be able to preview their unofficial scores of each section.

The GMAT score 2023 will be available to students within five to 20 days. The GMAT result is usually released within five to seven days, but it may take up to 20 days to fully process the scores. GMAT score will be valid for 5 years for admission into B-Schools.

Candidates can appear for the exam five times in a year with a gap of 16 days between each attempt. A student cannot attempt the GMAT more than eight times in his lifetime.

The quantitative and verbal reasoning sections of the GMAT are computer-adaptive. It means, the difficulty level of the test changes on the basis of candidates ability to answer the questions. It is employed to assess the candidate’s potential with a high degree of precision.

If the first question is answered correctly, the next question will be a harder one. And, if the first question is answered incorrectly, the next question will be of moderate difficulty. This process continues until the candidate completes the section.
