IGNOU launches CII career edge academy to support industry-aligned training

The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) launched the CII career edge academy during its 40th foundation day celebration at the IGNOU Headquarters. The initiative aims to strengthen skill development and employability for students and professionals by offering training aligned with current industry requirements.

The academy will provide learners with employment-oriented skill development modules, industry-aligned training programmes, and capacity-building pathways. By combining IGNOU’s national outreach and CII’s sector expertise, the initiative intends to equip learners with practical skills that meet the evolving demands of the job market.

The university states that the CII Career Edge Academy will extend its benefits across IGNOU’s network of study centres nationwide, enabling students and professionals to access structured training programmes, certifications, and skill-building initiatives.

The inauguration was attended by Peter Scott, President and CEO, Commonwealth of Learning (COL), Vancouver, Canada; Uma Kanjilal, Vice Chancellor, IGNOU; and Saurabh Roy Chaudhry, Executive Director, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Senior officials, faculty members, and invited guests were also present.

Speaking at the event, Uma Kanjilal highlighted the university’s focus on strengthening connections between education and industry. “This Academy reflects our commitment to creating stronger bridges between education and industry. By collaborating with CII, we are opening new avenues for our learners to build skills that directly support their career growth and improve their employability,” she said.
