IIM Kozhikode, Emeritus launch 25-week certificate course in Design Thinking, Innovation with AI

IIM Kozhikode will commence the classes for the Professional Certificate Programme in Design Thinking and Innovation with AI on December 23.
NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIM Kozhikode) in partnership with Emeritus has launched a professional certificate programme in design thinking and innovation with artificial intelligence (AI). The 25-week programme is designed to prepare professionals to “reimagine problem-solving through innovative, design-focused strategies”, the institute said.
Citing a 2024 report from McKinsey & Company projects that AI could add up to 15.7 trillion US dollars to the global economy by 2030, the institute highlighted the importance of advanced skills in AI and design thinking.
The Professional Certificate Programme in Design Thinking and Innovation with AI will help learners gain a strong foundation in empathy-driven problem framing, ideation, prototyping, and iterative testing. The curriculum will cover topics such as AI-enhanced creativity, generative AI applications, scenario planning, and cognitive AI for design innovation.
IIM Kozhikode certificate programme details
Classes for the Professional Certificate Programme in Design Thinking and Innovation with AI will commence on December 23, 2024. The 25-week programme will be divided into 4-6 hours per week.
Candidates who have completed their graduation or hold a diploma will be eligible to apply for the course. The total tuition fee to enroll in the professional certificate programme is Rs 1.3 lakh + GST.
Learners will also be taught the application of tools such as the Kano Model and Value/Ease Matrix for refining concepts. These tools will also help in customer journey mapping and value proposition canvassing to create user-centred solutions.
With insights into sustainable design practices and AI-driven market analysis, learners are prepared to lead in the development of innovative, AI-enabled solutions.
They will also delve into the real-world case studies and capstone projects. IIM-Kozhikode will also organise interactive live sessions led by industry experts. The certificate programme will include over 15 assignments and quizzes, live masterclasses on AI in design thinking, and continuous support from industry leaders, it added.

Speaking at the launch event, IIM Kozhikode director Debashis Chatterjee said: "Our new programme represents IIM Kozhikode's commitment to fostering innovation and critical thinking. By integrating AI with design thinking, we aim to equip future leaders to solve real-world challenges creatively and strategically, positioning them to drive meaningful change."
