IIT Guwahati 28th Convocation: 2,266 graduates to receive degrees on July 12

IIT Guwahati will confer 2,266 degrees and four prestigious gold medals at its 28th convocation ceremony on July 12, 2026.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati will hold its 28th convocation on July 12, 2026. During the convocation, 2,266 degrees will be awarded to graduating students. Shivkumar Kalyanarama, chief executive officer of the Anusandhan National Research Foundation has been invited as the chief guest.
The institute will also confer four gold medals, including the President's Gold Medal, Dr Shankar Dayal Sharma Gold Medal, and the Governor of Assam Gold Medals for undergraduate and postgraduate categories.

IIT Guwahati said the 28th convocation marks the institute's growth since its first convocation in 1999, when 63 students received degrees. Since then, more than 26,790 students have graduated from the institute.
Speaking about the upcoming 28th convocation, Devendra Jalihal, Director of IIT Guwahati, said the ceremony highlights the institute's contribution to science, technology and nation-building.

Further, he said, "IIT Guwahati's 28th Convocation is a testament to the institute's growing impact in science, technology, and nation-building. We are confident that his experiences will encourage our graduating class to work towards nation-building and serve society with integrity and a steadfast commitment to excellence.”
The institute expects this year's graduating batch to join its growing alumni network, which has expanded steadily since the first convocation more than two decades ago.
