IIT Kanpur organises 12th international conference on precision, micro, meso, nano engineering

IIT Kanpur will be hosting the 12th edition of the international conference on precision, micro, meso, nano engineering from December 8 to 10, 2022.

NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has organised an international conference on precision, micro, meso, nano engineering (COPEN12) from December 8 to 10, 2022. IIT-K is hosting the 12th edition of the conference this year.

The COPEN12 conference revolve around three themes such as precision engineering, manufacturing processes and measurements and smart manufacturing. The conference aims to bring the young Indian manufacturing community together. The event has received a total of 215 submissions out of which 175 have been accented so far.

Over 300 delegated from the industry, international community, government labs, faculty and students are set to attend the conference. The event also includes 15 invited talks from technical experts from India and abroad, along with three keynote addresses from industry personnel, that will present the problems and discuss on finding solutions.

The keynote addresses have three different presentation tracks available- alpha-track for presenting posters that show an early-stage of research and development; the beta-track will be a 4-page paper that showcases research that has reached some maturity and delta-track for presenting improvements to research that has already been published in reputable international journals within the past year.

The COPEN12 conference is being supported by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Council of Science and Technology of Uttar Pradesh (UPCST), Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, Central Manufacturing Technology Institute (CMTI), Lohia Corp, among others.

While speaking about at the inaugural session, IIT Kanpur, director, Abhay Karandikar said" “The manufacturing sector has been witnessing rapid changes with the advent of newer and better technologies in the recent past. The future holds multi-dimensional opportunities in manufacturing where India would play a vital role. With significant research in Precision, Micro, Meso, and Nano Engineering from our researchers, India could be atmanirbhar soon and also a leader in manufacturing technologies. I believe this conference would give a diverse platform for the delegates and attendees to deliberate on the challenges and solutions to accelerate the objectives of Skill India and Make in India initiatives, especially in the field of manufacturing.”
