IIT Kharagpur launches Young Innovators Programme 2022 for school students

IIT Kharagpur: The YIP 2022 will promote a culture of innovation, science among school students studying in classes 8 to 10.
NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur on Friday announced the launch of the Young Innovators Programme (YIP) 2022, a programme which aims to recognize the creative ability of school students studying in classes 8 to 10. The registration for the first round of YIP starts on September 5. Interested students can apply at yip.iitkgp.ac.in.
The YIP 2022 is established to encourage an innovative culture among science and technology-interested students at an extremely early stage of their academic careers.

Round 1 of the YIP will require students to make a detailed report (maximum of 10 pages) explaining how their model or idea works on the chosen theme. “Students can divide themselves into pairs of two or three and will be judged based on ideation, research, feasibility, cost of construction, portability, authentication and originality,” the statement said. Students will be able to check the result on the IIT Kharagpur website.
Students will also have the chance to speak with notable lecturers and tour IIT Kharagpur's campus.

Addressing the young students at the launch, Amit Patra, director of IIT Kharagpur stated, “India is the country of the youth where constant inventions from the remotest places, can address the challenges that the society faces today. The youth of this country are the inheritors of the Aspirational India who will take this country way forward on the path of Atmanirbhar Bharat. . I invite everyone to participate in this programme to promote the spirit of creation, innovation and inclusion.”
