Dharmendra Pradhan to launch BS in Electronic Systems at IIT Madras on March 6
In IIT Madras' second BS programme, students will get an option to exit early with foundation level certificate or diploma.

NEW DELHI : Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan will be launching Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electronic Systems programme at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras on March 6. The minister will launch the programme in virtual mode. The BS degree programme will be launched at 11am.
“IIT Madras is launching a BS degree program in Electronic Systems to meet the significant and growing demand for skilled graduates in the electronics and embedded systems sector in India,” said an official statement from IIT Madras.
The institute informed that this is the second BS programme being launched after the BS programme in data science and applications. It informed that currently 17,000 students are studying in the first BS programme.
Eligibility criteria
- Anyone with Class 12 (or equivalent) irrespective of age, role, or geographical location can apply.
- School students who have appeared for their Class 11 final exams (with Physics and Mathematics as their subjects of study) can apply. Those who qualify can join the programme after passing Class 12.
Students will get an option to exit the programme earlier with a foundation level certificate or diploma degree. Eligible and interested students can check the course credits, subjects, fees etc. on the official website of IIT Madras.
The event will be presided by professor V Kamakoti, director of IIT Madras. Pawan Kumar Goenka, chair, board of governors at the institute will be the guest of honor at the launch event. The programme will be coordinated by professor S Aniruddhan and professor Boby George belonging to the department of electrical engineering at the institute. The launching of the new BS programme will be live streamed on Youtube.
