IIT Madras Pravartak Technologies Foundation has launched the second batch of Aviation Safety Management (ASM) programme in collaboration with France’s L’Ecole Nationale de l’Aviation Civile (ENAC). The programme, supported by Airbus, aims to strengthen aviation safety education in India and the wider region.

The second batch is scheduled to commence tentatively in February 2026, with an intake capacity of up to 30 participants. Applications are open until January 31, 2026.

The ASM programme is designed to address the growing demand for trained aviation safety professionals amid the rapid expansion of India’s civil aviation sector. It focuses on building both technical expertise and operational judgement required for effective safety management, an official press release said.

Dr MJ Shankar Raman, CEO, IITM Pravartak, said the programme is aimed at equipping professionals with the skills needed to enhance safety performance across the aviation ecosystem.

IIT-M, Pravartak Course: Who can apply

The programme is open to professionals working in airlines, airports, air navigation service providers (ANSPs), training schools, maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organisations, and civil aviation authorities. Course content will be delivered by expert faculty from ENAC, France.

The key aspects of the programme are:

  • Two-year program with periodic in-person sessions: 4–5 days every two months in Year 1 and 4–5 days per month in Year 2.

  • Courses delivered by visiting faculty from France at IIT Delhi.

  • Includes a six-month project or dissertation.

  • Designed for aviation professionals, including senior and mid-level managers in operators and state authorities.
