IMI New Delhi launches sustainability and social impact programme

NEW DELHI: The International Management Institute (IMI) New Delhi, a business school in India, has announced the launch of its Sustainability and Social Impact (SSI) Programme. As per the official statement, the IMI SSI programme engages students in three core areas: primary education, rural development, and the empowerment of disadvantaged communities.
As per the official press release, this initiative aims to develop leaders with a strong sense of social responsibility and commitment to sustainability. Through the IMI SSI programme, students will have opportunities to work with underserved communities and contribute to initiatives that address critical societal issues, states the official press release.
Partnership with municipal corporation, NGOs
IMI New Delhi collaborates with various entities, including primary schools under the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, NGOs, and rural development projects in villages chosen under the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan initiative. According to IMI , through these partnerships, students can gain hands-on experience aimed at fostering empathy, social awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility.
IMI SSI Programme: Core areas
The IMI official press release states that the SSI programme is structured across three primary areas: primary education, rural development, and the empowerment of disadvantaged communities. Sonu Goyal, dean academics, remarked, "SSI broadens the curriculum to instill values, encouraging students to engage meaningfully with social and economic challenges."
IMI’s mission
Himadri Das, director general of IMI New Delhi, said, "The SSI program is a natural extension of IMI’s mission to nurture leaders who are not only skilled in business but also committed to creating positive societal change. By involving students in direct engagement with communities, we’re helping them become proactive agents of change.”
Priya Chaudhary, chair of the SSI programme, emphasised, “SSI empowers students to become changemakers, demonstrating that even small contributions can lead to substantial community impact.”
