JEE Advanced 2024: How many will be selected for IIT JoSAA admission? Category-wise numbers

NEW DELHI: The Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main 2024), the national-level engineering examination, is underway. Class 12 students who wish to pursue BTech programmes in Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), and government engineering colleges will have to obtain a valid JEE score and participate in the JoSAA counselling to be considered.

Admission to IITs will be granted based on the merit list and JEE Advanced 2024 counselling for the top 2,50,000 candidates of JEE Main 2024, however, the numbers may slightly increase in case two or more candidates score the same marks and percentile.
The JEE Main 2024 session 2 application process is ongoing at jeemain.nta.ac.in and the exams will be conducted between April 4 to 15. The final merit list and JEE Main cut-offs 2024 will be announced after the completion of the April session, the NTA said.

Candidates who qualify for admission in the NITs, IIITs and centrally-funded technical institutes (CFTIs) based on the JEE Main 2024 ranks, should also fulfil the JEE Main 75% criterion. IIT Madras, the conducting body of JEE Adv 2024 this year, has announced the category-wise distribution of top 2,50,000 candidates.

JEE Advanced 2024: 75% criteria
Students should have scored 75% marks in Class 12 board exam or be in the top 20 percentile in the final board exam. Those belonging to SC, ST category should have obtained a minimum qualifying marks of 65% in Class 12 exams 2024.
