JEE Advanced 2025: 54% boards fail to submit top 20 percentile; Andhra Pradesh sets highest cut-off at 475

Only those candidates who qualified the Joint Entrance Examination - Advanced (JEE Advanced 2025) and meet the 75% criteria or those in the top 20 percentile in Class 12 board exam will be eligible for the JoSAA counselling for admission to IITs.

According to the top 20 percentile data submitted by 23 school boards, the Andhra Pradesh Board of Intermediate Education (BIEAP) has the highest qualifying cut-off marks of 475 for the General category, followed by the UP Board with 461 marks and Dayalbagh Educational Institute with 459 marks.
The remaining top boards include ISC (449), Tamil Nadu Board (441), Rajasthan Board (436), and CBSE (419).
JEE Advanced 2025: IIT eligibility criteria
As per the JoSAA counselling eligibility criteria, candidates should satisfy at least one of the following criteria with physics, chemistry, and mathematics as compulsory subjects in the Class 12 board exam.
- Candidates should have passed in Class 12 or equivalent board exam with minimum of five subjects and secured at least 75% aggregate marks. SC, ST, and PwD candidates should have at least 65%.
- Candidates should have passed Class 12 and be within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in their respective board.
“If a Board awards only letter grades without providing an equivalent percentage of marks on the grade sheet, the candidate should obtain a certificate from the Board specifying the equivalent marks and submit it at the time of acceptance of the allocated seat. In case such a certificate is not provided, the decision taken by the Joint Implementation Committee of JEE (Advanced) 2025 will be final,” the JEE Advanced 2025 .

JoSAA 2025: Top 20 percentile cut-off marks for Class 12
