Karnataka NEET PG counselling 2025 rules out; stricter service bond, penalties up to Rs 18 lakh

The Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has announced the NEET PG admission process and published the information bulletin for the academic year 2025. The Karnataka NEET PG seat matrix along with the registration schedule will be published on the official website, cetonline.karnataka.gov.in. The KEA will conduct a total of four rounds – round 1, round 2, mop-up round, and stray vacancy round counselling. The last two rounds will be held subject to the availability of seats.

After each round, candidates will be given four choices. Candidates opting for choice 1 will have to proceed to college reporting and will not be allowed to participate in the subsequent rounds. Choice 2 candidates are those who are satisfied with the allotment, but wish to apply for an upgrade to a higher preference submitted by them. However, they are required to pay the seat acceptance fee.

Choice 3 is for candidates who are not satisfied with the allotment and wish to participate in the next round of counselling and choice 4 is for those who wish to exit from the Karnataka NEET PG counselling .

“The seat held by CHOICE-2 of the first round candidate will be displayed as virtual vacancy,” it said.

Karnataka NEET PG 2025 bond policy

Candidates enrolling in Karnataka medical colleges will have to undergo one-year compulsory government service after completing their MBBS, and those admitted under government or AIQ quota will also be bound by a three-year service bond in government hospitals.

As per the Karnataka compulsory service training, all candidates, other than those who have undergone compulsory rural service after award of MBBS degree, who take admission to PG medical and diploma courses in government, private, deemed colleges will have to undergo one-year compulsory service in government hospitals in urban areas.

Three-year service – Candidates selecting government seats, including AIQ PG courses will have to submit an undertaking to service the government for a minimum period of three years after completion of course.

In this regard, a candidate at the time of admission is required to furnish a bond in the form specified by the Government binding himself to pay a sum of Rs 10 lakh for medical and dental degree and Rs 4 lakh for PG diploma as a penalty in case they decide to discontinue their course.

Karnataka NEET PG 2025 forfeiture of seats

Candidates cancelling a seat in the first round after admission, one day before the second round counselling will have to pay a processing fee of Rs 25,000.

All candidates, including in-service candidates will have to pay Rs 1,50,000 (Rs 1 lakh 50 thousand) for medical and dental degree and Rs 60,000 for PG diploma courses in the second round allotment, if they fail to join the course. Such candidates will also not be eligible to participate in further rounds.

In case of cancellation of seats after the last date of joining for second round, and one day before the mop-up round, candidates will be required to pay a penalty of Rs 7 lakh for medical and dental and Rs 3 lakh for PG diploma courses.

Candidates cancelling seats after mop-up round will have to be made in person only to the Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Karnataka with a penalty of Rs 18 lakh and Rs 6 lakh for PG medical and dental and PG diploma courses respectively.
