Kerala education minister inaugurates first batch of KILE Civil Service Academy

NEW DELHI: Kerala education minister V Sivankutty today inaugurated the first batch of Kerala Institute of Labour and Employment, KILE’s first batch of Civil Service Academy that will coach the children of Kerala’s labourers at less fees, the minister announced on social media.

“Inaugurated the first regular batch of the Kerala Institute of Labour & Employment (KILE)’s Civil Service Academy, set up to coach the children of Kerala’s workers at low rates - a class that is still underrepresented in bureaucratic ranks,” V Sivankutty said in a tweet.

Kerala Institute of Labour and Employment is an autonomous body constituted by the Government of Kerala for the purpose of training, research and publications in labour and allied subjects.

The coaching centre will help children of labourer’s families chase their dreams of becoming civil service officers.

According to a report by The Hindu, KILE chairman Sivankutty had said that the coaching centre will offer 40 seats in its initial days. The students will be trained for free.

Since very few children from labour backgrounds join civil services, the government has taken this initiative, the report said.
