Kerala government decides to implement PM SHRI schools in state
PM SHRI Scheme: The Kerala government will sign the agreement before the beginning of the next academic year 2024-25.

NEW DELHI: The Kerala government will sign an agreement with the union ministry of education to implement the Pradhan Mantri Schools for Rising India (PM SHRI) scheme in the state. As per the education ministry tweet, the agreement will be signed by the state before the beginning of the next academic year 2024-25.
“Kerala Government has taken a far-reaching decision to sign an MoU with Ministry of Education, Government of India to implement PM SHRI Scheme,” ministry of education informed through its official X handle. This partnership between the Kerala government and the ministry of education, the government of India, signifies stronger centre-state relations, it further said. PM SHRI schools are designed to be exemplary schools for the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
The principal secretary of the state’s mass education department informed the school education and literacy department via letter that a state-level committee, has been constituted. The purpose of this committee is to oversee the establishment of PM SHRI Schools. Based on the recommendations provided by this committee, the state intends to sign the agreement for the establishment of PM SHRI Schools before the commencement of the academic year 2024-25.
“I would like to draw your attention to letter no. 1-2/2022-IS-19 dated February 23, /2024. The state of Kerala has consistently shown commitment to providing quality education to students through the implementation of various innovative and sustainable initiatives in the school education sector,” the official letter read.
Recently, the Odisha government and Tamil Nadu government have also decided to sign the agreement for establishing PM SHRI schools within the state.
