MCC revises NEET PG counselling 2024 brochure, adds AFMC eligibility criteria, admission details

NEW DELHI: The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on Wednesday has uploaded a revised brochure for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test postgraduate (NEET PG 2024) counselling on the official website, mcc.nic.in. The information bulletin of NEET PG counselling 2024 has been revised to add details of Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) counselling and eligibility conditions.

After much-delay, the MCC announced the NEET PG counselling schedule 2024 on November 1. The last date to register for the NEET PG round 1 counselling is November 17. Meanwhile, the Supreme Court is likely to hear the petitions against the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) on November 19.

As per the letter dated June 26, 2024, “It has been informed by the office of DGAFMS that from this year, the counselling for Priority III, IV and V candidates into AFMS PG Teaching Institutes will be conducted by MCC of DGHS.”

As per the AFMS counselling 2024 policy, eligibility list of priority 3 and 4 candidates will be provided to MCC by DGAFMS after screening the applications.

Those registering under priority 5 will be provisionally allotted seats on merit-cum-choice and seat availability basis. Such candidates will also have to participate in the medical examination which will be conducted at their provisionally allotted AFMS institute. Only those candidates who are found medically fit will be admitted.

Further, the MCC has also highlighted important information regarding cancellation of candidature and certificates for offering admission through the counselling process.

NEET PG 2024: AFMS counselling

AFMS PG Teaching Institutes primarily train in-service medical officers of the Armed Forces Medical Services so as to fulfill the specialist requirements. The civilian doctors who get admission in MD, MS, DNB at any AFMS institution will be liable to serve as Short Service Commissioned Officers (SSC) for 5 years in AFMS, as per the norms.

After fulfilling the AFMS requirements, the remaining seats in these institutes will be made available for eligible candidates as per the priority system given below.

Priority 1 - AFMS officers detailed on Advance Specialist Course or PG courses.

Priority 2 - Foreign students sponsored by Government and AFMS officers granted Study Leave.

Priority 3 - Medical Officers sponsored by Paramilitary Organization and other Government of India organizations.

Priority 4 - Ex- SSC AFMS officers within 3 years of their release from service.

Priority 5 - Civilian candidates.
