‘Indecent slogans’: MGAHV Wardha suspends 10 students from hostel for chanting ‘Sorry Sarvarkar’ at rally

The Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya (MGAHV) Wardha administration has suspended 10 students from their hostels for 2 weeks, and a non-cognisable report (NCR) has been registered against them. According to the official MGAHV statement, students were chanting "Sorry Savarkar, Maafi Veer Savarkar" at a campus rally to celebrate the left unity's victory in JNUSU elections 2025.

MGAHV Wardha students were found involved in affecting the academic atmosphere of the university by taking out a procession and raising slogans related to the violation of the dignity of great personalities in the Rajguru hostel premises on November 6.

Following this, they have been suspended from the hostel with immediate effect for 14 days, until November 25.

According to the official MGAHV statement, entry of suspended students to hostel premises will be completely prohibited during this period.

MGAHV Wardha forms committee for investigation

In a video, some students were heard raising slogans like "Sorry, sorry, Savarkar", "RSS ka chhota bandar,” to celebrate the victory of All India Students Association (AISA) in the Jawaharlal Nehru University Student Union (JNUSU) Elections 2025 .

However, considering the seriousness of the incident, an emergency meeting of the disciplinary committee was organised on November 9.

Additionally, an investigation committee has been formed to investigate the matter. The suspended students are directed to ensure complete adherence to discipline during the suspension period and cooperate with the investigation.

On November 6, left unity alliance comprising All India Students’ Association (AISA), Students’ Federation of India (SFI) , and Democratic Students Federation (DSF), won all the central panel posts for JNUSU Elections 2025. The JNUSU election results 2025 saw a 67% turnout from 9,043 eligible voters.
