Nagpur University Summer Exam 2022; Students, teachers say ‘no’ to offline exams

NEW DELHI: Nagpur University students and teachers opposed the university’s move to hold summer exams in offline mode. The university had earlier issued a notification stating the Nagpur University summer 2022 theory and practical exams will be held offline. Teachers have also expressed their opposition to the university’s decision.

Nagpur University will be conducting offline exams after a gap of 2 years due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation.

According to the Times of India report, students have pointed out that many students were yet to take first and second doses of the Covid-19 vaccine.

Some said that many students were yet to resume offline classes and that the college lacked the infrastructure to conduct offline NU summer exams 2022.

There were also complaints regarding the hostels not being cleaned and sanitised. While another section of students have raised the issue of commuting as outstation students face transportation issues.

On the other hand, Nagpur University teachers said that “the university has entrusted us with offline exams where we have to set papers, evaluate them and declare results. It is not possible at such a short period,” the report said.

Tagging the Maharashtra chief minister office, a student wrote on Twitter, “Nagpur University is taking 4th semester exam offline. Sir, this is injustice happening with students because our future is also at stake. Let our semester be online and start a new academic year offline. There are only two months left for the exam.”

Covid-19 pandemic has forced the education sector to shift from in-person learning to online classes globally. As the pandemic situation improves, schools, colleges, universities have started reopening physical classes and conducting offline exams. However, apprehensive of contracting the coronavirus, students of different state boards, CBSE, CISCE have been demanding online board exams 2022.
