The demand for online exams started a month ago when students and teachers opposed the university’s move to hold summer exams offline.

A video of thousands of students storming into the Nagpur University went viral on social media today. The students who are now in a sit-in protest have decided not to call-off the protest until the university declares online exams for the degree students.
In March, many students claimed that they were yet to resume offline classes as they did not take first and second doses of Covid-19 vaccine and also pointed out that the college lacked the infrastructure to conduct offline NU summer exams 2022. Transportation and no proper sanitization of hostels were among the other issues that the students raised.

The university had recently decided to withhold its timetable for the online exam, scheduled to begin from May 17. However, exam forms will be accepted from colleges, as per the Times of India report. It further said that the practical exams will be held in offline mode from May 2.
Maharashtra State NSUI secratary in Twitter wrote, “We NSUI are sitting on strike at Nagpur University along with thousands of students with a demand of online exams, NSUI is not going to move from here until you don’t declare that the exams are online.”
