NEET PG 2022: Student organisations demand one more opportunity for candidates

NEW DELHI: The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and All India OBC Students Association (AIOBCSA) have urged the government to provide one more opportunity or ‘second chance’ to National Eligibility Entrance Test (NEET) PG 2022 candidates. NEET PG 2022 was held on May 21 despite postponement demands of thousands of candidates. The National Board of Examinations (NBE) will declare the NEET PG 2022 result on June 20.

“The demand for solutions for NEET-PG candidates will continue: ABVP. Government should give one more opportunity to the aspirants for NEET PG exam,” ABVP said in a tweet.

In the press release shared by ABVP, the students’ union said, “We demand from the government that after considering all the subjects sensitively, students should be given one more opportunity and counselling for the year 2022 should be done only after the second chance examination.”

“AIOBCSA demands MoHFW_INDIA to give one more opportunity for the NEET PG aspirants and conduct the examination in all languages. We also demand proper implementation of reservation policy in the allocation of the seats,” the OBC students' organisation tweeted.

For months, students had been demanding postponement of the medical entrance exam for PG due to various reasons such as delay in 2021 counselling, ineligibility of around 5,000 interns to appear for the exam and less gap between counselling and exam. Besides students, Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) had also written letters to the government, union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya urging them to postpone the exam.

The issue had even gone to the Supreme Court ; however, the top court had dismissed the plea to defer the exam saying that such a decision would create “chaos and uncertainty”.
