NEP 2020 Anniversary: New initiatives launched for career guidance, language learning, AI apprenticeship

NEP 2020: MoE inaugurates portals for Indian languages; foreign universities to set up campus in India.
Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, inaugurated the Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam 2025 today, to mark the fifth anniversary of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The event was attended by academicians, policymakers, educators, industry leaders, and government representatives to review the current progress under NEP 2020.
Several new initiatives were launched by the Department of School Education and Literacy (DoSEL) and by the Department of Higher Education (DoHE).
The Ministry of Education has launched the TARA app to improve reading fluency among students of Classes 3-8. The ‘My Career Advisor’ app by DoSEL aims to provide personalised career guidance with information about more than 1,000 career pathways and educational requirements. The Swachh Evam Harit Vidyalaya Rating (SHVR) will assess schools on health and sanitation metrics, with the best schools being recognised with certificates of merit.

The National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS) is now offering apprenticeships in artificial intelligence (AI), with a monthly stipend of Rs 8,000 - Rs 9,000. |

New Age Curriculum |
IIT BHU and IIT Delhi have updated the curriculum for BTech and MTech courses to offer more flexible and practical learning. |
|
ViBe |
IIT Ropar has developed an AI-powered continuous active learning platform which includes smart checks, adaptive challenges, and feedback. |
|
Bhasha Sagar |
An app to learn any Indian language through another Indian language, without the need for an English medium. |
|
Centre of Indian Knowledge Systems and Encyclopaedic Dictionary of Sanskrit (IKS-ED) |
Established at Deccan College, it hosts literary references of all the Sanskrit literature across different periods, for monitoring IKR SWAYAM courses. |
|
KoshaSHRI Portal |
The public portal has digitised 35 volumes of the encyclopaedic Sanskrit dictionary. It will have advanced search tools, article authoring, and Sanskrit font tools. |
NEP 2020: Foreign partnerships
During the NEP anniversary event, Letters of Intent (LoI) were presented to various international universities for establishing their campuses in India:
- Western Sydney University (WSU), Australia
- Victoria University (VU), Australia
- La Trobe University, Australia
- University of Bristol, United Kingdom

Several dignitaries were present at the fifth anniversary event of NEP 2020: Minister of State for Education Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State for Education and Development of North Eastern Region, Sukanta Majumdar, and education ministers from 13 states graced the occasion. Vineet Joshi, secretary (DoHE), and Sanjay Kumar, secretary (DoSEL) were also present.
