NHAI invites applications for summer internship programme 2026; offers Rs 20,000 stipend

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has started accepting applications for the two-month summer internship programme 2026. Selected students will be offered a stipend of Rs 20,000 per month, along with a certificate upon completion of the internship.
Students can apply for NHAI’s summer internship 2026 on the official website, /internshipsatnhai.digitalindiacorporation.in/, by April 15.
NHAI’s summer internship programme is tentatively scheduled from May 5 to July 5, depending upon the academic calendar, and offers a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, management, mass communication, and others.
“Selected students will work under the guidance of experienced professionals at NHAI field offices and headquarters, gaining exposure to India’s infrastructure development ecosystem,” NHAI said on X account.
NHAI summer internship 2026 eligibility, application
According to the official PIB press release, full-time undergraduate and postgraduate students from premier institutions, including top-ranked institutes under the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), leading law and management institutions, and reputed mass communication institutes, can apply for the summer internship .
The NHAI summer internship programme 2026 application portal features separate logins for students and institutions. Students will have to submit their applications online, providing academic and personal details, and may indicate preferences for project locations where applicable.
Institutes will be responsible for approving and verifying student applications on the portal to confirm their enrolment. Notably, only institute-approved applications will be considered for further selection. However, the final allocation of applicants for projects will be made by NHAI, based on preferences and availability.

NHAI internships 2026
Earlier, NHAI launched the internship programme in December 2026. which witnessed participation from 244 civil engineering students participating in the one-month winter internship, and 149 students took part in the six-month term internship from January to June 2026.
"To further strengthen industry-academia engagement, NHAI has requested institutes to actively disseminate information about the programme among eligible students, facilitate timely application submissions, and nominate faculty coordinators to support the process and serve as a point of contact," the official PIB press release said.
