NIOS Admission: NIOS OBE to conduct exams for Classes 3, 5 and 8

NIOS: National Institute of Open Schooling to release the date sheet soon
NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) will conduct board exams for Classes 3, 5, and 8 (level A, B and C) from March 1 to March 31, 2022, for the academic session 2021. In a notification released on January 28, the NIOS directed the Open Basic Education (OBE) agencies to conduct the exam.
The NIOS OBE agencies have also been directed to release the date sheet and to share it among regional directors soon enough so that all the required arrangements can be made by the NIOS regional centres.

“The marks of internal and external examination will be uploaded at NIOS portal on a daily basis by the accredited agencies. No offline awards will be accepted,” said the NIOS notification. The board further instructed the accredited agencies to follow COVID-19 guidelines while conducting the exams.
NIOS also requested its regional directors to upload notifications for the OBE exam on the regional centre website.
NIOS had recently published the Class 10 and Class 12 exam results for the exam conducted in the November-December, 2021 session. Out of the 57,258 students who registered for the Class 10 exam, only 29,157 students qualified. Similarly, only 34,278 candidates got certified for the Class 12 exam, out of the 82,043 registered students.

NIOS is an autonomous organisation functioning under the Union ministry of education which offers courses in open and distance learning (ODL) mode for adolescents and adults for Classes 3, 5 and 8 of the formal school system. According to the NIOS website, it offers secondary education courses, senior secondary education courses, vocational education courses, elementary level courses and life enrichment programmes.
