NIT Tiruchirappalli to hold NIMCET 2026 on June 6; eligibility criteria

The technology institute will conduct the NIMCET 2026 for admission to MCA in 11 NITs and 2 IIITs for the academic session 2026-27.
National Institute of Technology (NIT) Tiruchirappalli has announced the exam date for the NIT MCA Common Entrance Test (NIMCET) 2026. The NIT Trichy will conduct the NIMCET entrance exam on June 6, from 4 pm to 6 pm, for a duration of two hours.
The NIMCET 2026 entrance test will be held in a computer-based test (CBT) mode. The registration process for NIMCET 2026 will begin soon on the official website, nimcet.admissions.nic.in.
The NIT Tiruchirappalli will conduct NIMCET 2026 for admission to the Master of Computer Applications (MCA) programme in 11 NITs and two IIITs for the 2026–27 academic session.
The MCA programme is offered by NITs at Agartala, Bhopal, Jamshedpur, Allahabad, Kurukshetra, Patna, Raipur, Meghalaya, Tiruchirappalli, and Warangal, and by IIITs at Bhopal and Vadodara.

NIMCET 2026: Eligibility, exam pattern
Candidates who have completed a bachelor’s degree with at least 60% marks or a 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale (55% marks or 6.0 CGPA for SC, ST, and PwD candidates) and have Mathematics or Statistics as one of the subjects, or who hold a BE/BTech degree from a recognised university, are eligible to apply for NIMCET 2026.
As per the NIMCET 2026 exam pattern, the question paper will have four sections — Mathematics (50 questions), Analytical Ability and Reasoning (40 questions), Computer Awareness (20 questions), and English (10 questions) — making a total of 120 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) carrying 1,000 marks.
As per the NIMCET marking scheme, 12 marks are allotted to the Mathematics section, 6 marks each to the Analytical Ability and Computer Awareness sections, and 4 marks to the English section.
For wrong answers, 3 marks will be deducted in Mathematics, 1.5 marks in the Analytical Ability and Computer Awareness sections, and 1 mark in the English section.
