NIT Trichy hosts 20th edition of techno-managerial fest Pragyan'24

NEW DELHI: The National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli (NIT Trichy) hosted the 20th edition of Pragyan , a techno-management festival from February 20 to 25. The fest featured 34 events spanning seven clusters and a combined prize pool of Rs 11 lakh. The theme of Pragyan'24 was "Chronocle: A Saga of Time."

As per the official press release, Pragyan collaborated with the Student Center for Innovation in Engineering and Technology (SCIEnT) to host a two-day event titled OpenHouse. This event showcased student projects, startups, and attracted investors and venture capitalists, highlighting the potential for these projects to reach the market.

The institute also featured Ingenium, a national-level technical competition, where young minds from various colleges across south India showcase their ingenuity through innovations, creations, and inventions. The theme of this year's Ingenium was healthcare, environment, and defence technology. Pragyan also held Sangam, a hardware hackathon, encouraging participants to push the boundaries of creation in these same crucial areas.

Exhibition of Technological Advancements

As per the institute, the ESI team of Pragyan hosted its annual exhibition where participants witnessed the multiple innovations in technology featuring robots, drones, satellites, and more.

The exhibits included the Zafira Robot, AI-enabled drone, Bionic Robo Arm, UAV Drone, ISRO Space Bus, Rhumi hybrid rockets, etc. The Indian Air Force displayed miniature aircraft and the Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited displayed tanks.

Pragyan featured a distinctive range of events encompassing various domains such as management (MANIGMA), coding (BYTEHOC), robotics (ROBOSPIRE), and beyond.

Workshops, hack-a-thon and games

During the three and a half days of the fest, workshops were conducted by 12 companies. These included sessions on data analysis and visualisation using PowerBI by KPMG, ethical hacking and cyber security by HT India Labs, and analogue design by Intuition by Texas Instruments, among others.

A 32-hour hack-a-thon was also held on January 27, 2024, at Virtusa Navalur Campus, Chennai, where participants tackled problem statements in domains such as blockchain, environmental sustainability and smart city.

Gamescape, the festival's gaming cluster, attracted over 800 participants who took part in the various fun-filled clusters of laser tag, gaming lounge, and RC car games. The Pragyan Infotainment team also presented shows throughout the festival, featuring fire shows, light shows, musical performances, and more.
