NMC cautions against fake letter on recognition of Avicenna International Medical University

NMC has warned medical students against fake letter claiming that Avicenna International Medical University in Kyrgyzstan is recognized by it.
NEW DELHI : The National Medical Commission (NMC) has clarified that a letter about the recognition of Avicenna International Medical University in Kyrgyzstan is fake. The fake letter, signed by the NMC secretary and under secretary, claims that the university has been recognized by the commission for Indian students to study and become a doctor.
“This is to inform all that a fake letter dated September 16, 2022 stating that “Avicenna International Medical University (Bishkek) is recognized by National Medical Commission and Indian students can study here to become a doctor” is in circulation under the signature of secretary, NMC and under secretary, NMC,” read an official NMC notice. NMC clarified that the said letter is fake as the National Medical Commission has not issued it.

In September, NMC issued the list of countries in which Indian medical students from Ukraine can study under the ‘Academic Mobility Programme’. According to NMC, students can study in medical institutes or colleges in Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, France, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Moldova, Slovakia, Spain, Uzbekistan, US, Italy, Belgium, Egypt, Belarus, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, Rumania, Sweden, Israel, Iran, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Germany, Turkey, Croatia and Hungary.
Recently, NMC warned medical students against taking admission in Singhania University . The commission cautioned against the “misleading” advertisement issued by Singhania University for MBBS admissions and announced that any admission made in medical courses in the university is illegal and void. NMC said that the university violates the Indian Medical Council Act and has no right to offer admission in MBBS.
