Noida schools to be closed on July 14 due to rising Yamuna water levels

Yamuna water level is continuing to rise to a record high. Delhi government and Noida administration have issued circular in view of the flood-like situation.
NEW DELHI: The Noida district administration has instructed all schools till Class 12 to remain closed on July 14 due to the rising water level of Yamuna.
“Due to heavy rains, in view of the increasing water level of Yamuna river and the possibility of rain, as per the instructions of the District Magistrate, all the schools of all the boards till class 12 of the district Will be closed on 14.07.2023,” the official order stated.
Earlier, the schools were shut on July 10 in view of heavy rains and waterlogging. The PTI reported ‘Yamuna in Delhi swelled to 207.71 metres on Wednesday, breaching its all-time record of 207.49 metres set in 1978, flooding several riverside areas.”
The national-capital is now facing a flood-like situation and waterlogging in many low-lying areas. Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal took stock of the situation and ordered closure of Yamuna Bank metro station and directed that non-essential government offices, schools and colleges be closed till Sunday.
“As per the Municipal Corporation of Delhi 10 schools in low-lying areas of Delhi's Civil Lines zone, 7 in Shahadra will be closed today due to flood-like situation,” the Mint reported.
Considering the safety of students, the Punjab government has also extended the holiday in schools till July 16.
