MP Chandra Shekhar Azad has written an official letter to UP CM Yogi Adityanath, requesting to launch overseas scholarship schemes - Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj and the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar.
Chandra Shekhar Azad, Member of Parliament (MP) from Azad Samaj Party (Kashi Ram) has urged Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath to launch state-funded overseas scholarship schemes for Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Scheduled Caste (SC) students.
In an official letter to Yogi Adityanath, Azad asked the state government to launch the “Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj Overseas Scholarship Scheme ” and the Bharat Ratna Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Overseas Scholarship Scheme.”
“I would like to inform you that education is the most powerful means of social justice and nation building. Many talented students belonging to Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) are deprived of pursuing higher studies in prestigious universities abroad due to lack of financial resources,” the MP said.

Selection process to overseas scholarships should be fair: Azad
Under the schemes, tuition fees, accommodation, travel and other necessary educational expenses should be borne by the state government and the selection process should be completely transparent, fair and merit-based, Azad added.
He further stated that the launch of the scholarship schemes will act as a motivation and an opportunity for the young meritorious students of the disadvantaged sections to contribute to the development of the country and the state.
The overseas scholarship schemes will make way for OBC, SC, and ST students to pursue higher education at global level, he said.
“Therefore, you are requested to take necessary action in this regard as soon as possible in the public interest,” the MP added.
