REET 2024: RBSE introduces negative marking, new OMR rule; what changes?

NEW DELHI: The Board of Secondary Education Rajasthan (RBSE) has introduced a new OMR rule for Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers (REET 2025) among other changes. The REET question paper 2025 will now have five options instead of four, the board said while announcing the marking scheme for the exam.

As per the REET new OMR rule, the Rajasthan Board said there will be 5 options for a question instead of four. It has also introduced a negative marking scheme for wrong responses.
If a candidate has opted for an incorrect answer or does not select an answer from the 5 choices, a negative mark will be awarded. Explaining further, the board said that ⅓ marks out of the total marks awarded to a question will be deducted for every wrong answer.
The REET exam will be conducted for two levels - REET level 1 is held for those seeking to be teachers for Classes 1 to 5 and REET level 2 for Classes 6 to 8 teacher eligibility. As per the schedule, the REET exam will be conducted on February 27. The registration process for the exam will conclude on January 15.
The RBSE has been holding meetings to ensure transparent and smooth conduct of exams. It had earlier announced that the REET application fee for both levels will remain the same as the previous years. Those applying for one paper will have to pay Rs 550 and those registering for both REET level 1 and 2 will have to pay Rs 750. The RBSE officials also discussed allocating nearby exam centres for candidates to ascertain smooth functioning of the exam.
