Schools, colleges closed in Tinsukia, Assam, due to thunderstorm: Report
The district disaster management authority of Tinsukia district of Assam has announced that schools, colleges will remain closed tomorrow.

NEW DELHI : The district disaster management authority (DDMA) of Tinsukia district of Assam has announced that the schools and colleges of the district shall remain closed tomorrow on April 24, 2023, reported ANI . The authority has made the announcement in light of the severe thunderstorm and hailstorm that occurred in the district on April 22 and 23, 2023.
The district administration also released a notice informing about the same. The notice was issued by the deputy commissioner cum chairman of DDMA.

The announcement came a day after a massive storm hit Tinsukia, disrupting the lives of the people residing there. Frequent power cut-offs were also witnessed in the area. As many as two persons lost their lives in the storm that took place within two days in the district. According to official information, it was learnt that Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia has been provided to the family of the ones who fell prey to the thunderstorm.
The district administration of Tinsukia also issued two helpline numbers: 9394585622 and 9365118503 for the people stuck in the thunderstorm.
