Sharda University holds two-day conference on Ayushman Bharat scheme at hospital

Sharda University’s hospital hosted a two-day national conference on the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The event focused on the implementation and challenges of the scheme.

Senior healthcare professionals, administrators, policy experts, and government representatives took part in the conference. The main objective of the event was to review the progress in delivering quality and affordable healthcare services to beneficiaries under the scheme, and to discuss future challenges and possible solutions.

The participants witnessed discussions on topics such as beneficiary registration, availability of health benefit packages, coordination with hospitals, and measures to prevent misuse of the scheme.

Retired Air Marshal Pawan Kapoor, chairman of NABH steering committee was invited as the chief guest. He highlighted that the conference was centered on the overall goals of AB-PMJAY – particularly, providing financial health protection to poor and vulnerable families and achieving universal health coverage. The official praised Sharda Hospital for its contribution in the healthcare sector. Appreciating the leadership of the Sharda Group chairman, he said that it played a key role in making the initiative successful.

Challenges in implementing AB-PMJAY

Kapoor also pointed out that private hospitals face several challenges in implementing the Ayushman Bharat scheme, but its impact is significant globally. Highlighting that it takes time for any large-scale scheme to be fully effective and the benefits might be visible immediately, he added that the real purpose behind such initiatives is serving people.

Sharda Group chairman PK Gupta stated that the scheme is vast and deep, and he appreciated the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, which is helping economically weaker sections receive better healthcare services. He emphasised that Sharda Hospital has been providing treatment at very low cost since the beginning, and working in education and healthcare is the greatest form of service.

He shared that over 25,000 patients have been treated under the scheme at Sharda Hospital. “Our real dream is to provide quality healthcare at an affordable cost. I see this scheme succeeding, and we are walking the path of our sages, who considered public service as the highest service,” he said.

The conference aims to benefit faculty members and students while contributing to the nation’s growth in healthcare and education.

Distinguished guests present at the event included retired major general Atul Kotwal, pro-chancellor Y K Gupta, CEO Prashant Gupta, medical superintendent Rammoorti Sharma, among others.
