Somaiya Vidyavihar University opens admission for courses in languages, literature, writing; last date June 30

Somaiya Vidyavihar University has opened admissions for postgraduate programmes, diploma courses, and certificate courses, under the faculty of languages and literature.
Somaiya Vidyavihar University opens applications for its languages, literature, writing, and communication programmes under the faculty of languages and literature. Registrations began from May 26, and will end on June 30, 2025.
Somaiya University is offering four postgraduate programmes for which candidates need to have a Bachelor’s degree in arts, from a recognised university. Students from other disciplines will be assessed individually on their language skills, according to the official press statement.
The four postgraduate programmes being offered by Somaiya University are:
- MA in Marathi bhasha, sahitya ani upyojit Marathi
- MA in Gujarati literature, translation and media
- MA in Hindi sahitya
- MA in English literature and communication studies
All postgraduate programmes span four years and 160 credits, involving internship projects as well as research work. These programmes are designed to make the students ready for careers in “academia, publishing, content creation, translation, global relations, and the creative industries”.

Somaiya University also offers a one-year diploma in content and creative writing. It carries 80 credits. Students with Class 12 or equivalent certification from English, Hindi, Marathi and Gujarati medium are eligible to apply.

The faculty of languages and literature is also offering certificate programmes in French, German, Italian, Spanish , Japanese, Mandarin (Chinese), Urdu, Gujarati communication skills, and communicative Marathi for non-Marathi speakers. These are 4-credit courses and students who have passed Class 12 are eligible to apply for Level 1.
Veena Sanekar, dean of the faculty of languages and literature, Somaiya Vidyavihar University said in the press statement: “Language is central to how we think, express, and engage with the world. It shapes cultures, bridges communities, and empowers individuals. These programmes are designed to nurture this power, encouraging deep literary exploration while building real-world skills in communication, content, and creative expression.”
Somaiya University admissions are now open, and eligible candidates can apply to various courses offered by the faculty of languages and literature.
