NEW DELHI: The Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level (SSC CGL) 2024 result has sparked widespread protests as aspirants have alleged irregularities, citing a pattern in the roll numbers of selected candidates. Aspirants claim that multiple consecutive roll numbers from specific centres have been shortlisted, raising concerns about the selection process.
The X (formerly Twitter) users share screenshots of sequential roll numbers from the same centre that have been shortlisted for the mains exam. “Almost 1 lakh aspirants are protesting against the cheating in the SSC 2024 exam. Look at the pattern; there are a number of sequential roll numbers like these,” an aspirant posted on X.
“So many children getting selected from a single centre... puts everyone in doubt Sir...And if SSC makes the marks of all these public then the whole scam will be exposed... There are many such pages in the list, please take action and build children's confidence,” another user posted on X.
SSC CGL 2024 Result: High cut-off
Aspirants also raised concerns about alleged irregularities and an unusually high cut-off in SSC CGL tier 1 result 2024. The hashtags #SSCScam, #ssc_सुधार_करो and #SSC_STOP_SCAM have been trending on X (formally Twitter), with users calling for the dismissal of the SSC chairman and a revision of the results.
The recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 17,727 vacancies for Group B and Group C posts under various ministries and departments of the Government of India. Aspirants highlighted that despite a significant increase in the number of vacancies from last year, the cut-offs for each category have risen dramatically, exceeding 150 marks in some cases.
Demand release of marks
Protesters are urging the central government to dismiss the SSC chairman, revise the results, and reissue the cut-off. They are also demanding transparency in the normalisation process and the public release of marks to expose potential malpractice.
“The list of frauds in #SSC #CGL is very long. The hard work and honesty of lakhs of candidates is being openly played with by the commission. The central government should dismiss the SSC chairman, revise the result and issue the cut-off again,” an X user posted.
"The hard work and honesty of lakhs of candidates are being compromised. There must be justice," said an educator supporting the protests.
The commission declared the SSC CGL 2024 tier 1 result on December 5, 2024. A total of 1,86,509 candidates declared qualified for the SSC CGL tier 2 exam which is scheduled to be held from January 18, 2025.
