Tamil Nadu Covid Cases: No offline classes for students up to Class 8, says report

Tamil Nadu Government Announcements Today: Offline classes will continue for students of Class 9 and above.
NEW DELHI: Tamil Nadu government has stopped physical classes for students of Classes 1 to 8 till January 10. But offline classes will continue for students of classes 9 to 12, and colleges following all Covid protocols, reported ANI.
Tamil Nadu Covid cases increased with 76 Omicron variant infection cases. The total number of Omicron cases in Tamil Nadu has become 120, according to the health department. The total number of cases was 46 on Thursday. However, along with the rise in new infections, the recovery rate also improved with 66 people getting discharged from hospitals. Chennai districts had the most Omicron cases at 95 followed by Chengalpet with five cases, Madurai four and Thiruvallur three.

Weddings to be allowed with 100 persons & funerals with 50 persons
“Wedding functions will be allowed in Tamil Nadu with a limit of 100 persons. Funerals can be held by including a maximum of 50 persons,” said reported ANI.
S Ramadoss, the founder of Pattali Makkal Katch, recently urged the Tamil Nadu government to cancel physical classes at schools and colleges and shift to online mode, as the number of COVID-19 cases was on the rise in the state, The Hindu reported. “School children are not vaccinated yet. The only option in front of us is to close schools in Tamil Nadu till the situation improves, “ he said.
