Telangana SSC exam to only have 6 question papers; Includes Urdu as second language

NEW DELHI: The Telangana government has announced that the Secondary School Certificate (SSC), or Class 10 exams will now only have six question papers instead of 11 for the ensuing Telangana SSC exams. It state government has also decided to include Urdu as a second language for the academic year 2021-22.

Now the students will have the option of choosing between Telugu, Hindi, Urdu as their second language. The decision to reduce the number of question papers to six was taken due to the Covid-19 impact on the education sector and the difficulties faced by students.

“The department has also decided to exclude 30% of the syllabus from the exam, which was originally implemented in 2020-21 in view of the Covid-19 pandemic,” Time of India reported.

“Telangana government has decided to have only six question papers instead of 11 for the ensuing SSC exams and including Urdu as a second language for the academic year 2021-22,” ANI reported.

Last year, the Telangana government had permitted the Director of Government, Telangana, Hyderabad, to declare all the students of Class 10 studying in the government and private unaided and all schools appearing SSC examinations were declared as pass, as an one-time measure due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To award grades duly considering the Class 10 performance in internal assessments for 20% only one formative assessment was conducted instead of two due to the pandemic situation.
