Telangana technical education board open-book exam in January: Report

The open-book method is available only for first semester students who joined the TS SBTET 2021-22 course.
NEW DELHI: The State Board of Technical Education and Training (SBTET), Telangana State’s (TS) will conduct its upcoming English exam paper in open-book examination method. The TS SBTET exams for polytechnic courses are scheduled to start on January 18, reported The New Indian Express .
The open-book exam method, suggested under the New Education Policy (NEP), is available only for students who have enrolled for the TS SBTET 2021-22 courses. Only two out of the five recommended textbooks can be taken to the exam hall, the Telangana board informed the students.

Only the SBTET Telangana first semester students will be provided with the open book option. The second and third-year students will be writing the exam in the old method, the SBTE board informed.
“National Educational Policy-2020 recommends making the quality of education better. Indirect questions can be expected in the question paper. Students will be allowed to find out the correct answer using the textbook,” C Srinath, SBTET Secretary told TNIE .

As per a recent SBTET notification, students can apply for revaluation and copy answer scripts for theory subjects at the SBTET student portal, sbtet.telangana.gov.in. An amount of Rs 1500 will be charged per subject for revaluation. Rs 350 will be charged per subject for downloading the valued answer scripts.

Earlier this month in December, open-book examinations were conducted by Delhi University too in online mode with participation from around 46,000 students. Students were provided with three hours for writing answers, one hour for downloading question papers and uploading scripts and an additional 1 hour for delayed submission. But students are supposed to submit documentary evidence in that case.
