UGC grants Rs 10 crore to Design Innovation Centre of Rajasthan University: Report
The Design Innovation Centre has been extended by a five year extension by the ministry of education.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Rs 10 crore and an extension of five year to the Design Innovation Centre of Rajasthan University, a Times of India report said. The Centre was established in the year 2016.
The DIC was set up by the central government in Rajasthan University’s Centre for Converging Technologies, the report said. The objective of the Centre is to offer design education, create design culture, design thinking and promote innovation amongst the students, the report said.

According to the report, Rajiv Jain, Vice-chancellor, Rajasthan University said: “We are happy that the DIC has been extended to 2026 and in the course of time, it will be on a self-sustainable basis. We already have the ecosystem in place and have faith that the faculty members and students will take advantage of the framework provided by DIC.”
The Centre aims at food designing, computer assisted drug designing, product design employing different types of coating etc., the report said.
In other news, four more persons, including three police constables, were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in irregularities in the Rajasthan Eligibility Examination for Teachers-2021 (REET), police said, as per the PTI report.
Those arrested were identified as constables Manish Kumar Sharma, Paramveer Singh and Digambar Singh and another person Jaiveer Singh, an official statement said, the PTI report said.
Recently, the Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education on Monday rejected BJP Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Lal Meena's allegations that the paper of a state teachers' eligibility exam conducted recently was leaked, as per the PTI report.

After several irregularities and negligence came to light in the conduct of the exam, the state government suspended a Rajasthan Administration Services (RAS) officer, two Rajasthan Police Services (RPS) officers, a head constable, two constables and over a dozen personnel of the Education Department, as per the PTI report.
