UGC warns against courses offered by CHRED
CHRED is not officially recognized under Section 2(f) or Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.

NEW DELHI: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has issued a warning against the courses offered by Council of Human Resource Education Development (CHRED) as it is violating the UGC Act, 1956. According to UGC, enrollment in BSc programmes offered by such colleges may harm students' career and professional development.
The UGC notice read “It has come to the notice of University Grants Commission that Council of Human Resource Education Development (CHRED), Tarsali, ONGC Road, GEB. Sub Station, Near Sai Mandir, Tarsali, Vadodara, Gujarat- 390 009, is running various courses in violation of the UGC Act, 1956.”

As per section 22 of UGC Act, 1956, the power to confer or confer degrees shall be exercised by a university established or incorporated by or under any Central Act, Provincial Act or State Act or by any institution deemed to be a university under section 3 or by any Act of Parliament. The conferring or conferring of degrees will be done only by an institution specially empowered to do so.

Under a subsection in the UGC Act, it is also stated that no person or authority shall confer or give away any title or represent himself as entitled to confer or confer any title.
The notice further read “The Council of Human Resource Education Development (CHRED) is neither listed in the list of universities under Section 2(f) or Section 3 nor empowered to confer any degree as per Section 22 of the UGC Act, 1956”
Through the official notice, UGC advices students, their parents, general public and other stakeholders to not enroll in such kind of institutions that are not recognized by UGC.
