UP to train 36,103 govt school students with employment-based skills in electronics, agriculture

The Uttar Pradesh government has decided to train 36,103 students from government secondary schools with employment-oriented skills alongside their academic education. As part of the UP skill development mission, the government has allocated training targets under “Project Praveen” for Short-Term Training (STT) during the financial year 2026-27.

Under the project, students will be offered skill training in sectors such as IT-ITES, healthcare, electronics, apparel, beauty and wellness , and agriculture according to the official statement.

Kapil Dev Agarwal, minister of state (Independent Charge) for vocational education, skill development and entrepreneurship said: “The Yogi Government's primary objective is to ensure that no young person in the state is deprived of skill development opportunities. Through Project Praveen, students in government secondary schools are being equipped with technical and vocational skills alongside conventional education.”

UP govt's Project Praveen to train secondary school students

To maintain the quality of training, each batch will have a maximum of 35 trainees, allowing students to receive more effective practical and hands-on learning, the statement read.

“This year, the government has set an ambitious target of providing skill training to 36,103 trainees across the state under Project Praveen,” it added.

Training Providers (TPs) in government schools across several districts in Agra, Bareilly, Azangarh, Lalitpur, Varanasi, Rampur, Shahjahanpur, Jalaun, Sonbhadra, and several others will conduct the skill development programmes.

“Major training sectors include IT-ITES, Healthcare, Apparel, Electronics, Beauty & Wellness, Management, Green Jobs, and Agriculture,” according to the statement.

UP Skill Development Mission 2026

The duration of the training of each course will be of 300 hours and according to instructions issued by Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission Director Pulkit Khare, all training providers must strictly adhere to the prescribed timelines.

They are required to complete the establishment of training centres, registration, and batch formation, and commence classes by July 15, 2026 without fail, Khare said.

“Within seven working days of the commencement of each batch, study materials must be distributed to all trainees, and photographs of the distribution uploaded to the Mission Portal. Any training provider failing to start operations on time, or against whom complaints are received at the district level, will face strict legal action as per the rules,” he added.
