AICTE announces scholarship scheme for girl students pursuing BBA, BCA and BMS

The AICTE will provide a financial assistance of Rs 25,000 annually for three years to 3,000 meritorious girl students.
NEW DELHI: The All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) has announced a new scholarship scheme for girl students in BBA, BCA and BMS. The scheme was announced during an event, which was presided by AICTE Chairman TG Sitharam, to celebrate the International Women’s Day.
The AICTE said that a total of 3,000 scholarships will be given annually to girl students belonging to economically weaker sections. The AICTE will disburse scholarship with Rs 7.5 crore annually. The selected students will be given a scholarship of Rs 25,000 annually for three years. The new scholarship is dedicated only for girl students pursuing BBA, BCA and BMS courses from AICTE approved Institutions.
Announcing the scheme, AICTE Chairman said, “AICTE takes measures to empower women and unlock their full potential in technical and management education. For girl students in engineering, we have a PRAGATI scheme.”
He added that the scheme was started as BBA, BCA and BMS undergraduate management courses have come under the ambit of AICTE from this year onwards. “At AICTE, we stand committed to fostering an inclusive environment where women not only thrive but also lead the charge in shaping the future of engineering and management,” the AICTE chairman added.
AICTE schemes for women
The AICTE also informed about its various initiatives to promote girl education. In line with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the AICTE has started the Pragati Scholarship scheme. A total of 5,000 scholarships are disbursed under the scheme annually to meritorious female students.

The AICTE is also going to collaborate with tech giants to train women and provide them job opportunities. In one such collaboration, Amazon India will equip women students enrolled in engineering colleges across India with essential skills to thrive in the technology industry under the Amazon WoW (Women of the World) initiative.
Under AICTE’s TechSaksham Program (TSP) 19,000+ students have been trained since 2021, of which 14,000 are female students. The AICTE has also launched the Women Entrepreneurship in Waste Management programme (WEWP) to motivate women students to take up entrepreneurships in waste management.
