Andhra Pradesh CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy distributes school kits for students

AP government claims that enrollment in government schools has improved as a result of various education schemes.

ADONI: Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy distributed school kits to school students under the ‘Jagananna Vidya Kanuka’ scheme. The free school kit includes three pairs of uniforms with stitching charges, one pair of shoes, two pairs of socks, belt, a school bag, textbooks, notebooks, and workbooks for government and aided schools students of Classes 1 to 10.

The Jagananna Vidya Kanuka scheme aims to reduce the financial burden on parents during the beginning of an academic year, says a statement from the Andhra Pradesh government. As many as 47,40,421 students across Andhra Pradesh will receive school kits under the scheme. According to the government, about Rs 931.02 crore was spent this year on the scheme, making the total expenditure of the past three years for the scheme Rs 2,368.33 crore.

According to the AP government, the state has spent Rs 52,676.98 crore in the past three years on various education schemes such as "Amma Vodi" and "Swecha". The government claims that enrollment in government schools has increased from 37.21 lakh students to 44.30 lakh students as a result of this. Andhra Pradesh government has also introduced CBSE education in government schools and partnered with BYJUs for promoting digital education.

"The government has signed MoU with BYJUs, one of the largest educational tech companies. BYJUs study material will be distributed to all students studying in govt schools from Class 4 to Class 10. Apart from knowledge building, 4.7 lakh students of Class 8 will receive tabs by September 2022. Steps are being carried out towards installation of smart TVs or digital display board in each classroom to facilitate digital format of teaching and learning," said CM Reddy.
