Check NowNEW DELHI: The Assam government has made an announcement to waive off the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for graduate and postgraduate Teachers (GT and PGT) of secondary schools. Instead, the state will now conduct a TET-cum-Recruitment Test for these positions.

The key highlight of this new approach is that successful candidates in the TET-cum-Recruitment Test will be considered equal to the number of vacancies available. This move is aimed at streamlining the recruitment process and ensuring that deserving candidates get a fair chance at securing teaching positions in secondary schools.

Assam education minister, Ranoj Pegu tweeted in his official handle, "Assam Cabinet Decides: TET will not be required for Graduate and Post Graduate Teachers of Secondary Schools. Assam will conduct TET-cum-Recruitment Test for GT & PGT of Secondary Schools. Successful candidates will be equal to the number of vacancies."

The decision was taken to provide more opportunities to eligible candidates and simplify the education department's hiring process. By eliminating the mandatory TET, the state government aims to attract more qualified individuals for these teaching positions.
