Under the Modified Assured Career Progression, retired principals will be entitled to draw a salary in the higher grade pay after implementation of the scheme.
NEW DELHI: Delhi Lieutenant-Governor VK Saxena has directed that the benefits of Modified Assured Career Progression (MACP) scheme must be extended to retired principals of the education department, Raj Niwas officials said on Wednesday.
They would be entitled to draw a salary in the higher grade pay from the date of implementation of the scheme or the date they become eligible for the scheme, whichever is later, they said.

In order to provide relief to government employees due to stagnation in their posts, the Centre had brought the MACP scheme effective from September 1, 2008 under which an employee is entitled to three financial upgrades on the completion of 10, 20, and 30 years of regular service to the next higher grade pay.
The L-G has also directed the education department to release the financial benefits to these retired officers, along with admissible arrears, immediately. This decision of L-G will pave the way for grant of financial benefits to similarly placed employees of other departments also, they said.
"Despite these retired officers being eligible for financial upgradation from 2008 and their eligibility upheld by various courts and even by Supreme Court, these officers had to go through trauma and harassment all these years for no fault of theirs due to indifferent and inhuman attitude of the education department. With the decision of the L-G, they would be getting their due benefits pending for 15 years," the LG office said.
Raj Niwas officials said the L-G also overruled a file on the matter submitted for his approval to move the Supreme Court against government employees seeking benefits under the scheme. The benefits under the scheme are granted from the date an employee becomes eligible and he is also eligible for arrears on the benefits in case of delays.
