BHU senior professor Anil Kumar Tripathi appointed IISER Mohali director

Professor Anil Kumar Tripathi has served as director of Institute of Science, BHU, from February 2019 to January 2024.
NEW DELHI: Banaras Hindu University (BHU) senior professor Anil Kumar Tripathi has been appointed director of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Mohali. He will serve as IISER Mohali director for five years. Tripathi is senior professor at School of Biotechnology, Institute of Science, BHU.
Anila Kumar Tripathi was the director of BHU’s Institute of Science from February 2019 to January 2024. He has also served as the director of the Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (CSIR-CIMAP) from February 2014 to January 2019. He started teaching in BHU in 1990. From 2002 to 2004, he served as a professor in the DDU Gorakhpur University. He has contributed significantly in various administrative as well as academic capacities in BHU, besides leading several research projects.
Tripathi has supervised 22 PhD theses. He has received numerous fellowships and awards such as JC Bose National Fellowship, Dr Rajendra Prasad Oration Award, CSIR Technology Award in Life Science, UGC Career Award in Biotechnology, ISCA Young Scientist Award by Indian Science Congress, Bangalore, among others.

He is also a fellow of leading science academies, including Indian Academy of Science (IASc) Bangalore, Indian National Science Academy (INSA), National Academy of Sciences India (NASI), Allahabad, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS). Tripathi has a number of publications in leading national and international research journals to his credit.
His areas of expertise include bacterial genetics, functional genomics, systems biology and synthetic biology. The BHU fraternity congratulated Tripathi on his appointment as IISER Mohali director.
