No holiday for Bihar teachers on Eid, Ram Navami: Govt clarifies after fake circular goes viral
Bihar education department clarified that the press note circulating on social media on holidays for teachers on Eid and Ram Navami is fake.

NEW DELHI: The Bihar education department has clarified that there will be no holiday for school teachers on Eid-ul-Fitr and Ram Navami. The clarification came after a press note related to the education department went viral on social media.
“A press note related to the Education Department has gone viral on social media that holiday has been declared on the occasion of 10th and 11th April, 2024 (Eid) and 17th April, 2024 (Ram Navami). In the training schedule, no changes have been made. The said viral press note has not been issued by the Education Department. This press note is completely misleading and fake,” Kanhaiya Prasad Srivastava, director secondary education said.
The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has been organising residential training programmes for teachers. The teachers training programme is being organised at 78 centers of the government across Bihar.
Reports claiming the holiday states that the Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar took ‘discomfiture’ among teachers because of the residential training programme that deprived them of the holidays. Taking it into consideration, the chief minister ordered holidays on April 10 and April 11 for Eid-ul-Fitr and April 17 for Ram Navami, the PTI report said. However, the board has clarified that the circular is fake.
The board had in November clarified that there will be no change in the number of holidays. However, there will be a change in the summer vacation timings in view of the 18th Lok Sabha elections 2024.
