NEW DELHI, FEB 26: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has warned all its affiliated schools against holding back or not issuing Admit Cards to students. CBSE has also asked schools not to charge any fee for the release of Admit Cards, the class X and XII examinations are scheduled to begin from March 5.
K K Choudhury, Controller of Examination in his letter sent to the school principals has said, "The CBSE has received many complaints with regards to schools holding back admit cards on the ground of performance of students in the pre-board tests conducted internally in the month of January and charging a fee from students in order to release it."
Rule 15 of the CBSE's examination bye-laws states that the schools affiliated to the CBSE shall 'in no case detain eligible candidates from appearing in the examination'.
The circular issued by CBSE reads that the Board issues the admit card only to those students who have been termed eligible by schools. Thus, schools cannot violate the bye-laws and hold back students from appearing in Practicals or Theoretical exams.
