CBSE Class 10 English Paper Analysis: Questions in the literate section was based on NCERT, and focused on understanding the text rather than tricky details, as per students' reactions.

The CBSE Class 10 English literature section was easy for students having a broader view and knowledge of the topics and subtopics, said Gitika Haloi, PGT-English, Modern English School, Kahilipara, Guwahati, Assam. The English literate section had a mix of knowledge, analysis, and application-based questions.
The English paper of the CBSE Class 10 board exam 2026 featured application-based questions and maintained a balanced mix of knowledge, and analysis, she said.
“The first reading comprehension passage of the CBSE Class 10 English board exam 2026 was moderately critical, and required careful understanding and analysis,” Haloi said.

She added that the second passage in the English paper was easy and direct with case-based questions. “The grammar section was application-based and tested the learners’ ability to use grammatical rules in context. The writing section dealt with common and familiar topics, making it easier for learners to organise their ideas,” Haloi said.

According to Alka Kapur, Modern Public School, Shalimar Bagh, the CBSE Class 10 English paper was balanced and “fairly” easy for students and was easily managed in the given time.
“The questions were clear and direct, mainly checking how well students understood what they had studied. The unseen passage was moderate in level, but students could grasp it and attempt the answers without much difficulty,” Kapur said.
The questions in the literate section of the CBSE Class 10 English paper was based on NCERT, and focused on “understanding the text rather than tricky details,” she said.
“Students who were clear about the themes, messages, and deeper meanings—especially figurative and metaphorical expressions found this section especially manageable,” the subject expert added.
