Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has extended the deadline for obtaining scanned photocopies of Class 12 answer books to May 24. The extended this citing unprecedented traffic and “unauthorised interference” on its website over the past few days. In an official circular, the board said the disruptions had affected portal functioning and the extension was being provided to ensure that no student is left behind.

The latest circular issued by CBSE reads, "It is also informed that students will have up to two days after receiving the scanned copy of their answer book for applying for the next step of Verification of Issues Observed/Re-evaluation. Candidates are advised to make use of the extended timeline and apply accordingly. All terms and Conditions mentioned earlier remain the same."

Activity Date
Earlier last date to obtain scanned photocopy of answer book May 23, 2026
Revised last date to obtain scanned photocopy of answer book May 24, 2026
Re-evaluation application window begins May 26, 2026
Re-evaluation application window ends May 29, 2026

The deadline extension came after CBSE students alleged major irregularities in the board’s revaluation portal for four consecutive days. Several students claimed that the subject-wise fee displayed on the official portal changed repeatedly, triggering confusion and panic among applicants trying to apply for photocopies or scanned copies of answer sheets. According to screenshots and posts shared online, the fee allegedly shifted from Re 1 to Rs 69.67 before later jumping to nearly Rs 8,000 per subject in some cases.

“Good morning @cbseindia29, your site was hacked, students were scammed. Last night the price was changed to Re 1 then to Rs 69.67 and now to Rs 8000 and as of 3 minutes ago Rs 69420 for each subject,” a user claiming to be a student posted on X.

Students also raised complaints about blurry scanned copies of answer sheets , portal crashes and delays in accessing documents required for revaluation applications.

DMK MP wrote to Pradhan

The matter also drew political attention. DMK MP and South Chennai Lok Sabha member Dr T. Sumathy, popularly known as Thamizhachi Thangapandian, wrote to Dharmendra Pradhan seeking urgent intervention over alleged technical glitches and evaluation concerns linked to the CBSE revaluation process for Class 12 students. In a letter dated May 21, the MP flagged multiple complaints from students and parents regarding answer sheet verification and revaluation. She said that despite CBSE’s claim that the portal was “functioning smoothly”, many students continued to report payment failures, inaccessible webpages and unsuccessful transaction statuses even after money had been debited from their bank accounts.

“Several users have also complained that the portal does not progress beyond the confirmation stage,” the letter stated.

The MP also raised concerns over the quality of scanned answer sheets being provided to students. Calling the issue “equally worrying”, she wrote that “blurry and illegible scanned answer sheets” made proper verification impossible and raised “questions about transparency and evaluation standards”. The letter further highlighted complaints regarding inconsistencies in question paper difficulty levels and varying standards of evaluation across regions.

The MP had urged the Ministry of Education and CBSE to extend revaluation deadlines, resolve portal-related technical issues, ensure refunds for failed transactions, provide clear scanned copies of answer sheets and conduct a transparent review of reported evaluation discrepancies. “At a time when students are already under immense pressure, it is imperative that institutional lapses do not further jeopardise their future or mental wellbeing,” the letter said.

Earlier this week Rajya Sabha MP John Brittas also wrote to Dharmendra Pradhan raising concerns over CBSE Class 12 results 2026, seeking an independent review of the evaluation and revaluation process. In his letter, Brittas highlighted the drop in pass percentage, concerns linked to OSM system, and reports of JEE and NEET qualified students failing Class 12 exams. He also flagged technical glitches on the CBSE revaluation portal, including login failures, crashes and payment issues, and urged the ministry to extend deadlines and stabilise the system.
